The Course
The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is an advanced qualification for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts.
For individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and wine making.
Upon completion you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality.
Course Structure and Examination
The course is conducted in English and lasts for 35 hours.
It takes place over 6 consecutive days from 9:00 to 17:00 with a break from 13:00 to 14:00.
Both in classroom and online courses, the final exam will be held at the end of the sixth and final day either in-person or via live streaming under the supervision of a WSET representative, lasting from 10:00 to 13:00
The final exam lasts for 3 hours and consists of 2 units:
- 1) The first unit consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and 4 open-ended questions.
- 2) The second unit consists of a blind tasting of 2 wines, to be analysed and evaluated using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting® Level 3.
To pass the exam, it is necessary to answer at least 55% of the questions correctly for each unit.
Candidates who pass the exam receive the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines certificate and pin.
Additionally, they are authorized to use the internationally recognized "WSET certified" logo.
In case the exam is not passed, it is possible to retake it without retaking the course (here are the costs).
Exams will be graded by WSET Global in London, and results will be emailed in about four weeks.

Registration and Requirements:
- To enrol to the course, the candidate must be of legal drinking age
- Registration is considered effective upon receipt of full payment
- It is possible to enrol directly to the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, and registration is open to all. Nevertheless this course is designed for students who hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wine or a demonstrable certification of equivalent level.
- At the time of registration, the candidate will receive a study guide in eBook format that can be read online or offline through the WSET eBook application, available for iOS and Android
- To pass the final exam, a minimum of 20 hours of individual study before the start of the course is required. Once payment is made, the complete student package will be sent. It is recommended to register at least 4 weeks before the course start date to allow time for studying the material.
