The Course

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is perfect for those who want to expand their skills in the field of wine, using technical language and approaching professional tasting with universally accepted terminology.
The course offers a complete overview of international and indigenous varieties and wines from different wine-growing regions of the world.
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines certification is highly recommended for enthusiasts and Ho.Re.Ca professionals who interact with an international clientele.
Course Structure and Examination
The course is taught in English and lasts 17 hours.
It takes place over 3 days from 9:00 to 17:00 with a break from 13:00 to 14:00.
Both in classroom and online courses, the final exam will be held at the end of the third day either in-person or via live streaming under the supervision of a WSET representative.
L’esame finale ha una durata di 60 minuti e si compone di 50 domande a scelta multipla.
Per superare l’esame è necessario rispondere correttamente almeno al 55% delle domande.
Candidates who pass the exam receive the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines certificate and pin.
They are also entitled to use the internationally recognised “WSET certified” logo.
If the exam is not passed, it will be possible to repeat it without repeating the course again (here are the costs).
Exams will be graded by WSET Global in London, and results will be emailed in about four weeks.
Course Program:
- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)
- How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah/Shiraz
- The style and quality of wines made from 22 regionally important grape varieties and produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
- How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of Sparkling wines and Fortified wines
- Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
- Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
- Principles of food and wine pairing
Registration and Requirements:
- To enrol to the course, the candidate must be of legal drinking age
- Registration is considered effective upon receipt of full payment
- It is possible to enrol directly to the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines without obtaining the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, but it is recommended
- At the time of registration, the candidate will receive a study guide in eBook format that can be read online or offline through the WSET eBook application, available for iOS and Android
- To pass the final exam, a minimum of 20 hours of individual study before the start of the course is required. Once payment is made, the complete student package will be sent. It is recommended to register at least 4 weeks before the course start date to allow time for studying the material.
